Gods and mortal fools,
clothed in red velvet,
masks and disguise.
Guilt flickers like fire,
it’s marred by desire,
gilded thoughts
stolen by thieves.
Judgement at the hands
of blissful awe.
I tried to help them
but I needed more.
Fear the truth.
Fear the God.
Fear the man that you’re not.
The false confessions
giving blessing
to the thoughts that he’s got.
The thought that a man that believes
that he’s more than he’s not
can save his soul from his failing,
bet his life for what he wants.
Hear my prayers.
I can’t take much more of this.
The gold and (golden) fears.
I got more than I gave
- I didn’t give very much
Fortunes come
and fortunes go.
Take a stand.
Luck stolen by the
Bitter Thief.
Empty pockets
debt in hand
bet the life you can’t outrun
lies laid out bare
the man of cloth
devil plays the 21
But with lies,
hope decays.
We can find another way.
Take this mantle,
run from scandal,
thorns remind of yesterday.
When a man pursued by greed
- misled by imperfect good deeds -
the faithful imperfection,
resurrects,
rewards all our dismay.
God knows
I can’t take much more of this.
I’m out
- enough!
You can take my soul ,
it’s your to keep.
Hold on, we’ve got to fight.
They’re got our aces
- we’ve got them dead to rights
Gods and mortal fools,
clothed in red velvet,
masks and disguise.
Guilt flickers like fire,
it’s marred by desire,
gilded thoughts
stolen by thieves.
Fortunes come
and fortunes go.
Take a stand.
Luck stolen by the
Bitter Thief.
We got no one to blame,
we lost it all.
The table playing by the rules
but now we’re not,
the game has changed.
Fear the truth.
Fear the God.
Fear the man that you’re not.
The false confessions
giving blessing
to the thoughts that he’s got.
The thought that a man that believes
that he’s more than he’s not
can save his soul from his failing,
bet his life for what he wants.
Gods and mortal fools,
clothed in red velvet,
masks and disguise.
Guilt flickers like fire,
it’s marred by desire,

stolen by thieves.
Fortunes come
and fortunes go.
Take a stand.
Luck stolen by the
Bitter Thief.
